Hi, my name is Jessica and I am the creator of Strength Adapted. I am working to create a space for my coaching, to create connections, to share information, and where I can share my journey through some not so common circumstances.

When I found out about my early onset (I was in my mid-thirties) Osteoarthritis, I didn’t know where to go to find people who were like me and who were looking for answers to be able to live the with best quality of life. I found an incredible surgeon who listened to what I was going through and where I wanted to go and gave me options for treatment (the first ones we tried weren’t surgery!) Ultimately I decided to have my first (left knee) replaced in August of 2015 and I will say that honestly, it was the best decision I could have made. So much so that when my right knee became increasingly painful, I had it replaced in April of 2020.

To put some of that into perspective, I was urged to figure out what was causing me so much pain with my knees by the owner of the Crossfit box that my husband and I trained at.  I hadn’t been training for very long but I fell in love with the barbell.  My surgeon originally told me that I would probably have to stop training and doing other “knee approved” activities like walking, biking and swimming. No offense to those but not something I could look forward to.

Fast forward - I competed at the Granite Games (a national Crossfit competition) in Minnesota with one knee replaced and then fell in love with the sport of powerlifting with two knee replacements. Now, I am a competitive masters powerlifter, who wants to help others achieve their goals. Trying to navigate my way through the many opinions, thoughts,  and feelings I’ve had coming my direction from others and myself has helped me navigate the adversity and has led me to create Strength Adapted.

It will be wonderful to meet you all and I hope you will stick with me as I create this inclusive space to help you achieve your goals!
